Itinerary

At the international airport of Quito you will meet our La Selva representative in the national departure area. He will assist you with the check-in process and give you some important information about the trip.

After a 30 minute flight to Puerto Francisco de Orellana, also known as “El Coca”, we will take you by private transport to the main harbor basin of the city on the Napo River. The next two hours will take you down the river in a motorized canoe and this will be the beginning of an unforgettable experience in the tropical rain forest, the Amazon. Tour To Yasuni

At the end of the motorized canoe trip, you will disembark at the La Selva main harbor port and begin your first encounter with the rainforest. You will travel the last distance to the lodge with a paddle canoe. The only things you need to take with you on this trip are your bag and camera equipment, and the other pieces of luggage will be transported by La Selva Lodge staff. Tour To Yasuni

The manager will be there to welcome you with refreshing juice and snacks and give you a brief general introduction to your stay in La Selva. This trail was named after the Spanish name of a famous strangler fig (Ficus sp). This is one of many exceptional trees that you can find on this short walk. Our guide will share all his knowledge about flora and fauna with you. Because of the time of day, there is great natural light and the nocturnal and nocturnal animals begin their daily activities.  Tour To Yasuni

7.30 pm Dinner / Dinner: Dinner is served at this time. Find your seat and make yourself comfortable while the waiter serves each set of dishes. Tour To Yasuni

06.00 clock wake-up call and breakfast 07.00 clock observation tower / Tucaneta trail or Mandi forest: After a 20 minute walk, the observation tower comes into view. This amazing construction will allow you to be 120 feet (36.58 meters) above the forest floor.

Your guide and local guides will help you to see the colorful birds of the Amazon and possibly even certain species of monkeys. On the way from the tower, you will have the opportunity to take the Tucaneta trail, where our local guide will show you plants that are still used for medical purposes.

Our nature guide will provide you with interesting information about the ecological and natural history of the Amazon. There is also the possibility to visit the beautiful lagoon of Mandi Cocha. After an hour’s hike you will arrive at the lagoon, where there is an “Igapo” forest. This means that this forest is temporarily flooded by black water.

Various species of birds and even huge otters can be seen here. 1:00 pm Lunch / Lunch 4.30 pm Charapa Trail: This trail goes for about an hour and starts at the lodge and ends at the edge of the lagoon. It is a great way to see different mammals, monkeys and birds. These come close to the lagoon to look for food.

It is also perfect for enjoying the Amazon sunset from the water in a canoe. 6.40 pm night canoe trip: With the help of Schweinwerfern our guides will take you in a canoe around the lake to look for nocturnal wildlife. This is also a great way to watch stars. 7.30 pm Dinner / Dinner

7:00 am Parrot Clay Lick (clay licking) and Mandi Wasi: Today you will head back to the Napo River and you will be taken in a motorized canoe to the clay licks, one of the most fascinating places in the wild world.

Hundreds of parrots and parakeets gather here to eat the mineral-rich soil. This is an important part of their diet. Binoculars are very important here to capture this moment. After the clay licks we will take you to a cultural activity.

A Kichua woman from the Amazon will welcome you to her community center to show you the life of Kichua in the Amazon. This is special because it is part of the Amazon that you can not find on the maps and it offers a special and unique opportunity to really learn more about the people of the Amazon. 

1:00 pm Lunch / Lunch 4.30 pm Garzacocha Lagoon and Ceiba Trail: This is one of the most beautiful lagoons in the Ecuadorian Amazon. There are many opportunities to see monkeys and birds, and sometimes families of squirrel monkeys and capuchin monkeys looking for food.

The monstrous cries of howler monkeys can be heard in the afternoon and the smallest monkey in the world, the pygmy monkey can be seen here. Many birds such as hoatzines, toucans or macaws can be seen flying in the sky. 

18.30 Night walk: On a night walk, we give you the chance to experience the creatures and sounds of the Amazon jungle at night. Sometimes we can experience amazing things during this activity. Make sure you bring a camera with a flash for this fantastic experience. 

19.15 o’clock Departure Explanations: Our manager will provide you with the necessary information about the departure process the next morning. 

7.30 pm Dinner / Dinner

6.00 clock wake-up call and breakfast 07.00 clock departure to Coca: In accordance with the explanations the evening before, you will receive an early wake up call and breakfast. Departure will then be from the lodge, and then head upstream in the motorized canoe to Coca, where our representative will assist you with checking in the baggage and boarding pass at the airport.
